What is Rejuvaheart?

Cross-Section-of-HeartThe RejuvaHeart™ technique increases blood flow to the heart, strengthens the circulation, and offers a proven way to treat heart disease in lieu of stents or bypass surgery. RejuvaHeart™ is a non-invasive treatment that enhances blood flow to the arteries of the heart for  individuals who suffer from intense angina or those who can not undergo surgery or angioplasty stents or bypass surgery. It serves as an alternative to improve the blood flow and quality of life.

RejuvaHeart™ is a safe, non-invasive procedure that can overcome heart disease in two ways—by passively exercising the heart to strengthen the vascular system and by targeting inflammation, the underlying culprit in damaged blood vessels that inhibits blood flow.

The RejuvaHeart™ protocol is administered through a series of treatments where the patient is connected to two pairs of external inflatable cuffs that are applied around the lower legs and thighs.  These are attached to inflatable pneumatic hoses, or pressure devices, that inflate during the treatment doing what is called diastole, a time where the blood flow is diffusing or going out to the arteries and  enhances that blood flow into the arteries. These cuffs continuously inflate and deflate between the resting period of the heart beat and increase blood returned to the heart.

The basic principle of RejuvaHeart™ treatment involves increasing the amount of blood returning to the heart, which helps supply more oxygen  to areas that were receiving minimal blood flow. By increasing more oxygen to these areas, the heart can function much more efficiently and therefore, reduce chest pain.

Development of RejuvaHeart™

This technology behind RejuvaHeart™ was originally developed by a Harvard physician 50 years ago. He was trying to make a determination of improving the quality of life of individuals who were otherwise limited by their disease process. These patients were limited in terms of physical activities involving what they could do on a daily basis. Their confines were due to the pain they were experiencing, mainly chest pain.

There has been more than 100 studies that have demonstrated its overwhelming effectiveness and unquestioned safety in improving blood flow in patients with heart disease. Many experts in the field of cardiology are suggesting the RejuvaHeart™ procedure to become first-line therapy for heart disease,  prior to surgery or other invasive procedures are used. Approved by the FDA for chronic stable angina, cardiogenic shock, congestive heart failure, as well as during a heart attack, RejuvaHeart™ has saved lives, given back quality of life, while being considerably cheaper and safer than traditional invasive procedures such as angioplasty and coronary stents, which continue to be the mainstay of therapy. Most all insurance plans as well as Medicare cover the expense of this revolutionary procedure.
